Friday, I witnessed something I had never seen before. Even Obama’s wife was quoted as saying “it was the first thing that ever made me feel American”. I am talking about the 2008 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Yes, America in all its glory . . . stuffing their faces with hot dogs. Kobayashi, the 5 time winner and Joey Chestnut’s mortal enemy tied Joey after the 10 minute contest. As both of the men struggled to keep their food down, the ref called for a 5 Hot Dog-Off. The first man to finish 5 hot dogs was the world champion. As we chanted “America”, Chestnut showed the Japan native why his country is considered the fattest in the world.
One day, I will wear this mustard yellow belt as well.
